PF Balance Check – 4 Methods to Check EPF Account Balance & Statements

These days, you don’t have to go anywhere to EPF balance enquiry. Now you can check your EPF balance anytime and anywhere without even visiting EPF office and filling any forms. Within just 5 minutes, you can check your PF balance either through SMS, using EPFO app, giving missed call, or using EPFO portal.

Employee Provident Fund (EPF) is important source of your savings. By monitoring the required information about EPF balance on timely basis, you can have foolproof plan for major expenses which can be met either by seeking loan against EPF or by withdrawing from EPF. Even better, quick access to EPF balance check can keep you up-to-date with the increment of your balance from time to time.

Method 1 – EPFO Portal

To conduct PF balance check, be sure to get the UAN number activated by your company. Universal Account Number or UAN is a unique number allotted to all employees fall under EPF scheme. Employees should have just one UAN in their life, no matter how many companies they switch. The EPFO provides the UAN number to the employee. Before following these steps, make sure your UAN number is activated.

  • First of all, visit EPFO portal. Click on “Our Services” tab and scroll to the dropdown to choose “for employees” option.
  • Now go to “Services” and select “Member passbook” option.
  • It will show up the “Login” page. Enter your UAN number and password once it is activated.
  • Now you can check your PF balance.

Method 2 – Through SMS

Before you follow these steps, make sure your UAN number is linked to all your KYC details, including Aadhaar, bank account, or PAN. You may ask your employer if you cannot do this. Follow these steps if UAN number is linked with KYC –

  • If you want to get the details in English, type EPFOHO UAN ENG.
  • The SMS facility is available in Hindi, English, Punjabi, Marathi, Gujarati, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil, and Bengali.
  • If your preferred language is Marathi, you may type EPFOHO UAN MAR.
  • After typing the message, send it to 7738299899.

Method 3 – Missed Call

You can also check your PF balance through Missed Call. Again, you need to ensure that your UAN is linked to KYC details like Aadhaar, bank account, or PAN. Ask your employer for any queries. Follow these steps –

  • Use only your registered mobile number to leave a missed call to 011-22901406.
  • You will get an SMS with all your PF details.

Method 4 – EPFO App

Your UAN number should be activated by your employer to check your EPF balance. Once done, follow these steps –

  • Go to Google Play store and download “EPFO m-sewa app”
  • Once you download the EPFO app, click on “Member” and then “Balance/passbook”
  • Enter UAN number and your mobile number which is registered on the system. It will verify your mobile number with UAN. If it doesn’t match, it will show error. Make sure your mobile number is registered. It will show your updated PF balance once verified.
